Yatzy

Roll five dice, pick your combos, chase the perfect scorecard.

About Yatzy

The dice game everyone knows from family game night. Roll five dice up to three times per turn, holding the ones you like, then score the result in one of thirteen categories: ones through sixes, three and four of a kind, full house, straights, chance and the coveted five-of-a-kind Yatzy. Score 63 or more in the upper section for a 35-point bonus.

How to Play

Tap Roll, then tap dice to hold them and roll again — up to three rolls per turn. Tap a category to score it (green numbers show what each is worth right now). Every category must be used once. 63+ in the upper section earns a 35-point bonus. Extra Yatzys are worth 100 each.

💡 Tips & Strategy

Play for the upper bonus first. Scoring three of each number (63 points total) earns 35 extra, which is usually the difference between an average and a good game — so early on, keep the dice that support your best upper category.

Don't chase a Yatzy with dice that are already a good three-of-a-kind or full house; the odds of turning a triple into five-of-a-kind in two rolls are under 10%.

Use Chance as a safety net, not a dump. It is best spent on a high roll (25+) that fits nothing else, late in the game.

When a turn goes badly, zero out the category least likely to pay later — often Yatzy or Large Straight rather than a low upper number — and keep your bonus chances alive.
