Connect Four

Drop discs, line up four in a row, outwit the computer.

About Connect Four

The quick-thinking classic of gravity and geometry. Take turns dropping discs into a seven-column grid and be the first to line up four in a row — across, down or diagonally. Three difficulty levels: Easy makes mistakes, Medium plays a solid game, and Hard searches deep enough to punish a careless move.

How to Play

Tap a column (or press 1–7) to drop your red disc into it. Get four of your discs in a row — horizontally, vertically or diagonally — before the computer does. Block the computer's threes, and watch out for forks that create two threats at once.

💡 Tips & Strategy

Take the centre column when you can. Every winning diagonal and most horizontal lines pass through it, and the first player who owns the middle has more ways to win.

Think in threats, not just lines. A move that creates two different three-in-a-rows at once cannot be blocked, and the computer's Hard level actively looks for these forks — so should you.

Be careful about the square directly beneath a threat. If completing your line needs a disc in column 4 but the square below it is empty, whoever plays there first hands the win to the other player. Count these "poisoned" columns before dropping.

Odd and even rows matter in the endgame: the first player (red) generally wins with threats on odd rows, the second player with threats on even rows. When the board fills up, that rule decides who is forced to give way.
