About Euchre
The trick-taking sweetheart of the American Midwest, played with 24 cards and enormous nerve. You and your AI partner call trump against two opponents — and the second you do, the jacks change allegiance: the trump jack becomes the top card in the game, and its same-colour twin sneaks in right behind. Order it up, go alone when the hand is filthy, and take three tricks or wear the euchre. First team to ten, and the dealer can always be stuck.
How to Play
Bid: order up the turned card as trump, or pass — all pass twice, and the dealer must name a suit. Follow the led suit if you can. The trump jack (right bower) is highest, its colour-mate (left bower) second. Your side needs 3 of 5 tricks; all 5 scores 2. Fail your own call and the other team scores. First to 10.
💡 Tips & Strategy
Count trump from the bowers down: right bower, left bower, then A-K-Q-10-9. Holding three trump including a bower is a call, almost regardless of the rest — five trump per colour is all there is, and three of them is control.
Lead trump when you called it — pulling two of theirs for one of yours protects the aces you plan to cash later. Defending? Lead your off-suit ace before it gets trumped, and save trump to ambush their aces.
Remember the left bower belongs to the trump suit — countless tricks are lost following with it by accident. And when the hand is filthy — both bowers plus support — go alone: the extra point is how ten arrives fast.
