🟥 Box It Up
🧩 Puzzle · 13 playsBox It Up
Carve the whole grid into rectangles, one number each.
About Box It Up
Divide the board into rectangles until there is nothing left over. Each rectangle must hold exactly one of the numbers, and it has to cover exactly that many squares — so a 6 is a 1×6, a 2×3, a 3×2 or a 6×1, and usually only one of those will fit without treading on a neighbour. No gaps, no overlaps, one tidy solution. Geometric, calm and very hard to leave half-done.
How to Play
Drag across the grid to draw a rectangle. Every rectangle contains exactly one number, and its area must equal that number. Cover every square with no overlaps to complete the board.
💡 Tips & Strategy
Go after the numbers with the fewest shapes available. A 1 is instant. A prime like 5 or 7 can only be a single straight line, so it is just a question of which direction and how far along. Numbers sitting on an edge or in a corner lose half their options immediately.
Every other number acts as a wall. A rectangle can only ever contain one number, so any shape that would swallow a neighbouring clue is dead. Two numbers close together fence each other in, and that is usually where the forced moves are.
Hunt for orphan cells. If a square can only possibly be reached by one number's rectangle, that rectangle has to stretch there — which often fixes its size and position in one go. Corners and dead ends left behind by other rectangles are the obvious places to look.
The areas must add up to the whole grid exactly, so there is no slack anywhere. If you find yourself with a leftover square that no clue can legally cover, one of your earlier rectangles is the wrong shape — back up to the last one you were unsure about rather than forcing the rest.
