One sly fox, thirteen stubborn geese. Pick a side and outwit the other.
About Fox & Geese
The old farmyard hunt on a 33-point cross-board. Thirteen geese march up the board one step at a time — up or sideways, never back, never jumping — trying to hem the fox in until it has nowhere left to go. The fox steps one point along the lines in any direction and captures by leaping over a goose into the empty point behind, chaining jump after jump in a single turn when the board allows. Get the flock below 6 and the fox wins. The geese can’t stall either: 40 moves without a capture or a goose stepping up hands the fox the game. Play either side on Easy, Medium or Hard.
How to Play
Tap a piece, then a glowing point. Red points are captures. Geese (13) move up or sideways only, never jump, and win by trapping the fox. The fox steps one point any way and jumps geese to capture — chains allowed. Tap End jump here to stop a chain early. Captures are never forced. Fox wins when fewer than 6 geese remain, or after 40 moves with no capture and no goose stepping up. The fox moves first. Pick Easy, Medium or Hard.
💡 Tips & Strategy
Playing the geese, advance as a wall. The fox can only jump into an empty point, so a goose with another goose or the board's edge right behind it is safe. Move up in a solid line, never leave a hole the fox can land in, and don't dawdle — 40 moves with no capture and no goose stepping up hands the fox the win.
Geese can't go backwards, so every step is permanent. Bring the back rows up behind the front line, squeeze the fox toward the top of the cross where the arms are narrow, and give up a goose only when it buys a trap. You have room for mistakes: the fox needs you below 6, so you can lose seven and still win.
Playing the fox, stay central and mobile and hunt for forks — a spot where two jumps are threatened at once, because the geese can only plug one. Look for chains, where one jump lands next to another exposed goose. Captures are never forced, so skip any jump that drops you into a corner where the flock can shut the lid.
