🧩 Word Groups

Sixteen words, four hidden gangs. Crack the links before you run out of mistakes.
About Word Groups
Sixteen words sit on the board and every one belongs to exactly one secret group of four — fish, trees, words that fit before "ball", whatever the puzzle-setter dreamed up. Pick four, submit, and if you nailed a group it locks in as a coloured band. Get it wrong and you burn one of your four mistakes. The groups climb in difficulty from yellow to purple, and the decoys are planted on purpose: plenty of words look like they fit two groups, but only one arrangement works. One daily puzzle, plus a full archive to binge.
How to Play
Tap four words you think share a link, then hit Submit. A correct group locks in; a wrong one costs one of your 4 mistakes. "One away" means three of your four were right. Shuffle if you are stuck. Find all four groups to win — fewer mistakes, more points.
💡 Tips & Strategy
Don't submit the first four that fit. The puzzles plant decoys on purpose, so the obvious group usually has a fifth candidate lurking. Before you commit, count: if five words fit one idea, one of them belongs somewhere else.
Hunt the purple group early in your head, even if you solve it last. It is usually wordplay — a word that goes before or after the others, a hidden word, a sound-alike. Spotting it removes the words that are messing up the easier groups.
Use Shuffle when you are stuck — a new layout breaks the false pairings your eyes have locked onto. And treat "One away" as gold: swap exactly one word, the one you were least sure about.
