Hangman

Guess the word before the snowman melts away.

About Hangman

Word-guessing with a friendly twist: instead of the old gallows, a cheerful snowman melts a little with every wrong letter. Pick a category — animals, food, countries and more — and guess letters to reveal the hidden word. Eight wrong guesses and the snowman is a puddle. Build a winning streak!

How to Play

Tap letters on the keyboard (or type) to guess. Correct letters fill into the word; wrong ones melt the snowman. Solve the word within 8 misses to win and grow your streak.

💡 Tips & Strategy

Open with vowels — E and A first, then O, I, U. Nearly every English word contains at least two, and their positions frame the word's skeleton. After the vowels, follow letter frequency: R, S, T, L, N clean up most of what remains.

Let word length steer you. Short words of three or four letters are the real killers — they dodge frequency logic (think JAZZ or LYNX), so with them, think of complete common words and test their letters rather than guessing alphabetically. Longer words are friendlier: they contain more common letters and suffixes.

Read patterns like a detective. An ending _ING or _TION is free real estate; a lone _ before a vowel is usually a consonant blend (ST, CH, TR, PL). If you have _E_ _ER, run through candidates aloud — hearing them surfaces answers your eyes miss.

Use the category constantly: in Food, a 5-letter word with A in the middle wants B-R-E-A-D logic, not raw statistics. And track your misses — with eight melt stages you can afford early exploratory vowels, but by stage five every guess should test a specific word hypothesis, not a letter hunch.
