Colour Clash

Your eyes read the word. The game wants the ink. Good luck.

About Colour Clash

A reaction game built on the famous Stroop test, and it is far harder than it looks. A colour word flashes up printed in a completely different colour, and the instruction above keeps flipping between tapping the WORD and tapping the INK. Reading happens automatically, so half the time your own brain hands you the wrong answer before you can stop it. Fast, funny and genuinely humbling.

How to Play

Check the instruction at the top — it switches without warning. Tap the colour that matches the WORD, or the INK it's printed in, as asked. Answer quickly, but check the instruction first. Wrong taps hurt.

💡 Tips & Strategy

The interference is real and it is not your fault — reading a word is automatic, so when the game asks for the ink, your brain has already shouted the word at you. The fix is to stop reading: let your eyes go slightly soft, or look just past the text rather than at it, and you will register the colour without processing the letters.

Read the instruction before you look at the word, every single time. Almost every mistake happens on the first prompt after the instruction flips, because you answer on the rule you were using a second ago. Make checking the instruction the first half of your routine, not an afterthought.

Bank the freebies. When the word and the ink match, both rules give the same answer, so there is nothing to think about — hit it instantly and use the time you save on the awkward ones.

Settle into a rhythm rather than sprinting. One wrong tap costs far more than the fraction of a second you save by rushing, and the panic that follows a mistake usually produces two more. Steady beats frantic over a full round.
